Battery Technologies

Arctas management made a conscious decision to pursue investments into advanced battery technologies a few years ago as a direct result of two major “arbitrages” or disparities in the energy industry, as well as positive implications for environmental purposes.

Transport fuel vs. Power Arbitrage  Off-Peak vs. Peak Power Arbitrage

Petroleum products trade at high premium to power due to major feedstock price differences.

Advanced batteries for transportation applications (cars, buses, etc.), both hybrid and pure electric, represents bridge for such arbitrage.

In many markets, there are massive differences between peak and off-peak prices for electricity

Advanced batteries -- both for transportation and power grid applications -- represents the bridge for such arbitrage

Arctas’ initial interest in advanced batteries and electric vehicles began with the ubiquitous Chinese electric motor scooter. But, our focus now has greatly evolved on to larger and more important applications for the technologies. Arctas recently signed an LOI with one of the leading Chinese battery materials and battery manufactures to participate in their expansions in advanced battery production for electric vehicles.
